Our Daily Morning Meeting
"The Responsive Classroom (RC) is an approach to teaching and learning that fosters safe, challenging, and joyful classrooms and schools, kindergarten through eighth grade. Developed by classroom teachers, it consists of practical strategies for bringing together social and academic learning throughout the school day" (adopted from the Origins website).
Each morning students and teachers gather as a class to greet each other, share, and get ready for the day in a fun and inviting way. Morning meeting takes place in a circle in the following order:
Students work together during the first few weeks of school to brainstorm many rules that we need to follow in order to accomplish our Hopes and Dreams for the school year. The rules are then narrowed down to create classroom guidelines.
Responding to misbehavior in ways that allow children to fix and learn from their mistakes while preserving their dignity.
