Welcome to Room 107 (SUN Program) at Westwood Elementary School! I love teaching and have taught in the Bloomington Public Schools since 2000. I am happy to be part of a dynamic team of people committed to provide the best services possible.
Room 107 is part of Bloomington Schools Student Services Department and one of three elementary SUN (Students With Unique Needs) classrooms in the district.
The SUN ( Classroom at Westwood is a center based program for students from Kindergarten to 5th grade, with Autim and Pervasive behavioral/educational challenges, that need signficant support with communication and social interaction skills. The students in the program receive specialized instruction to learn academic skills, social communication and interaction skills, functional skills, gross and fine motor skills and emotional regulations skills.
The students from the program attend activities in the mainstream classrooms, as determined by their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team. The students receive services from special education teachers and paraprofessionals throughout their school day. Other educational services providers may include a speech/language pathologist, a developmental/adapted physical education teacher and an occupational therapist.
